Josh Moffett & Callum Devine had a titanic battle at the Circuit of Kerry but it was the defending Irish Tarmac Rally Champion who came out on top at the event on Sunday.
First 3 stages Josh Moffett/Keith Moriarty (Hyundai R5) lead Callum Devine/Noel O’Sullivan (VW Polo R5) by 7.9 seconds with Kevin Gallagher/Ryan Moore (Darrian T90 GTR) a further 19.8 seconds behind in 3rd place. 4th place was Daniel Barry/Lorcan Moore (Škoda Fabia R5) & 5th place Mark Alcon in the MK2 Escort respectively.
In the junior class Jamie O’Rourke/Patrick Brislane lead by 6.5 seconds from Jack McKenna/Damian Doherty with John Michael Kennelly/John Fleming a further 14.6 seconds behind in 3rd place.
After 6 stages Josh Moffett/Keith Moriarty lead Callum Devine/Noel O’Sullivan by 8.8 seconds with Kevin Gallagher/Ryan Moore a further 40.2 seconds behind in 3rd place. 4th place was Mark Alcorn/Domhnall McAlaney with Daniel Barry/Lorcan Moore rounding off the top 5.
In the junior class, after the second loop, Jamie O’Rourke/Patrick Brislane lead by 3.8 seconds from Jack McKenna/Damian Doherty with John Michael Kennelly/John Fleming a further 19.5 seconds behind in 3rd place.
Going into the penultimate stages and it was going to be a two horse race between Moffett and Devine. Despite Devine taking the final stage by over 3.5 seconds on Josh it simply wasn’t enough. The man from Monaghan took the event by just over 6.5 seconds over Devine.
Kevin Gallagher & Ryan Moore in the Darrian T90 GTR claimed a well deserved 3rd and was the highest finished RWD car, Daniel Barry & Lorcan Moore taking 4th in the Skoda Fabia R5 with Mark Alcorn & Domhnall McAleney in their MK2 Escort coming home in 5th and rounding off the top 5.
In the final junior results – Jamie O Rourke & Patrick Brislane claimed the class win with McKenna and Doherty just in 2nd with a gap of 6 seconds and Kennelly and Fleming in 3rd.
