Max Verstappen won the 2023 Miami Grand Prix from P9 with pitch-perfect execution of Red Bull’s strategy.

Max Verstappen stunning comeback victory from 9th at the Miami Grand Prix means he extends his championship lead over team-mate Perez.

Indeed, damage limitation must have been the aim for Verstappen on Sunday, after a poor qualifying session left him starting 9th. Instead, his searing pace helped him take a third win of the season.

By lap 10, Verstappen had moved up to fifth, 2.5 seconds behind Sainz and around 10 behind race leader Perez.

A third of the race in, he became a genuine contender for the win. With 10 laps to go he made his pit stop to the mediums and was just over a second behind Perez who was on used hards.

He then breezed past Sergio at the start/finish line to go on and win the race. Perez finished second with Alonso in a lonely third.

Russell, Sainz, Hamilton, Leclerc, Gasly, Ocon & K-Mag (who started 4th) rounded off the top 10.
