Max Verstappen claimed victory in the Canadian Grand Prix to further extend Red Bull’s winning streak this season and claim their 100th win as a fully works team.
Verstappen took the win ahead of Fernando Alonso, while Lewis Hamilton completed the podium in third.
At the start of the race Hamilton got the jump over Alonso but the Spaniard claimed the position back by lap 22.
It was a frustrating day for Mercedes as George Russell was running in fourth at the start of the race hit the wall which resulted in him needing to pit and bring out the safety car.
Russell then made his way up the field and back in the points but he then had to retire the car due to brake issues with his car.
Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc & Carlos Sainz took fifth & sixth after starting from tenth & eleventh respectively who opted for the one stop strategy during the pit stop phase.
Sergio Perez finished a frustrated P6 to futher lose ground in the championship battle with Verstappen.
William’s Alex Albon came home in 7th with Alpine’s Esteban Ocon 8th. Lance Stroll finished 9th with Valtteri Bottas completing the top 10 positions.
A mention to Haas’s Nico Hulkenberg to despite starting in 5th finished in a disappointing 15th place. F1 is back in two weeks’ time, as we head to Austrian Grand Prix at the Red Bull Ring.
