Delighted to be publishing this article by Karolina Szulecka. On a daily basis she works as marketing director for Ferrari, Maserati, Pagani, Bugatti and Koenigsegg in Poland, but after hours Karolina participates in various rally events as a co-driver but also as a team boss!
Michał Streer is an experienced rally driver from Poland, who returned to rallying this year, after several years of absence, driving Peugeot208 Rally4. This year he decided to fulfill his long-time dream and take part in the Rally di Como driving a Renault Clio Super 1600.
Rally di Como starts on September 22 with evening special stages and honorary start in Piazza Cavour in Como. This extremely spectacular rally is an opportunity for the crews to compete at a very high level, for the fans to spend time in the beautiful surroundings of Como lake and admire the competition not only of the WRC rally cars that are allowed in this rally, but also of the wonderful historical cars in the Rally Storico ACI Como, which takes place in parallel.
“When the idea and the opportunity to take part in this rally appeared, I didn’t think twice about it. Rally di Como has been my dream for years. I used to go there to watch it and support Robert Kubica, who won here. I remember what an impression this rally made on me as a fan – now I can go as a driver. I am extremely grateful to the sponsors who made this start possible – www.GetMen.com, www.iteo.com and Pirelli Polska,” says Michał Streer.
Jakub Wróbel, an experienced rally pilot, will sit in the co-driver’s seat.
Renault Clio S1600 used to be one of the fastest Junior WRC class rally cars, i.e. top “Axles”. Many of the fastest drivers in the world raced in cars from this group, including: Loeb, Ogier and Robert Kubica.
This design is not the newest, but it is still competitive with the fastest current front-wheel drive cars, i.e. Rally4. The aggressive appearance, widened body and the unheard of amazing engine sound cause a big adrenaline rush.
