Adrien Fourmaux and Alex Coria join a long, legendary list of names on the famous British Rally Championship Trophy as they claimed the title with victory no5 in the Trackrod Rally in Yorkshire.

The procedure started off with Friday’s night stage and the French pair got off to a winning start by claiming the opener.

After winning stages 2 & 3 they increased their lead by nearly 20 seconds. 2nd was Pearson/Barritt & 3rd was Petch/Wilkinson a minute and twenty seconds off Fourmaux’s pace.

Fourmaux extended his lead out front on stage 4 but Pearson was keeping him honest. Tom Williams was the man on the move however. Up into fourth overall and was just a few seconds behind Petch in third. The battle for the final podium spot will be one to watch until the end.

Adrien Fourmaux may have lead the event, but there was plenty of interesting stories behind him. Kyle McBride was the sole Junior during the event. Easier said than done but he had to make no mistakes and finish the rally to take the title fight to the Cambrian.

Stephen Waugh made a welcome return after a retirement on the Ulster. He was setting solid times in BRC4.

Running towards the back of the field was Stu Mclaren carefully threading the Opel through the ruts. A strong finish was his primary objective this weekend in the National class.

And then there was one. Just 13 miles separate the crews and the finish. Fourmaux held a comfortable gap over Pearson in second. As it stood the Frenchman would become champion.

Behind in third and fourth is where the battle to watch was. Petch held a margin of 3.2 seconds over Williams. It would be the first overall podium for both crews.

In the end nobody was going to stop the M-Sport pairing of Fourmaux & Coria. The completed the final stage and where crowned champions.

They would join famous names on previously won the trophy such as McRae, Ringer, Burns, Reid & of course their boss Malcom Wilson.

Pearson/Barritt came home in 2nd with 3rd going to Petch/Wilkinson.
