Max arrived in Wales fresh from a victorious debut in the BTRDA Rallycross Championship, where he won three from four Cross Car races at Knockhill on Sunday.

While the stage remains closed to spectators, it’s a first step to reintroducing the stages where the McRae family stood and celebrated two of world rallying’s most prestigious titles in 1995.

“I did some testing in Sweet Lamb a couple of days before the start, but throughout the event on Saturday I could feel the confidence coming with the car.

Max Speaking to Dirtfish

As well as making his first appearance behind the wheel of a Škoda, the Llandudno-based event was also Max’s maiden gravel outing in an R5 car. He settled straight into the Asset Alliance-liveried car and quickly looked at home on some of the world’s most famous stages.

Predictably, he was looking forward to competing in the woods where his uncle Colin was crowned World Rally champion and father Alister secured the British Rally Championship title 28 years ago.
