Marty McCormack won the Roger Albert Clark Rally for a record-equalling fourth time in an event both Kris Meeke and Oliver Solberg failed to finish.

McCormack and Barney Mitchell were victorious by 5 minutes 30 seconds over Cathan McCourt and Liam Moynihan’s Ford Escort Mk2, after Seb Perez and Gary McElhinney were cruelly denied second place in their Lancia Stratos after stopping on the event’s 33rd and final stage.

Jason Prichard and Phil Clarke inherited third to round-off an all-Escort podium. After Sunday’s driveshaft failure, Solberg returned under restart rules but went off on Monday’s first stage.

Solberg and co-driver Elliott Edmondson were leading the event by over five minutes after 27 of 33 tests, but retired on Sunday’s last stage in Kielder with a driveshaft problem.
