The late Craig Breen was inducted into the governing body’s Hall of Fame by Motorsport Ireland president Aiden Harper.
The 33-year-old was remembered at Motorsport Ireland’s annual end-of-season awards lunch in Dublin on Wednesday in front of his friends and sister, Kelly.
Breen – who lost his life during a testing accident with Hyundai Motorsport back in April – chalked up a total of nine podium finishes in the FIA World Rally Championship.
He also won the one-make Junior World Rally Championship in 2011 and followed that up 12 months later by clinching the Super 2000 World Rally Championship.
Domestically, he secured the British and Irish Fiesta Sporting Trophy titles in 2009 and the Irish Tarmac Championship in 2019.
William Creighton was named the International Driver of the Year for his title success in this season’s FIA Junior World Rally Championship, whilst the achievements of Callum Devine in the Irish Tarmac Championship and Josh Moffett in the Irish National Rally Championship were also celebrated.
