The opening round of the 2024 Probite Brakes British Rally Championship, the North West Stages Rally in Lancashire, has brought victory to English driver, Chris Ingram, and his American co-driver Alex Kihurani.
They finished the event in their Volkswagen Polo GTi with a margin of 27 seconds over William Creighton and Liam Regan in the Motorsport Ireland Rally Academy Ford Fiesta Rally 2.
Meirion Evans and Jonathan Jackson rounded out the top three on their first outing in a Toyota GR Yaris Rally 2.
17-year-old Kallum Graffin and experienced co-driver Richard Crozier seal the Junior BRC on the Lancashire roads.
Elsewhere William Hill and Peredur Wyn Davies won the BRC Class. Hugh Brunton and Drew Sturrock took the open class and Darren Atkinson and Simon Walling sealed the national class respectively.
It didn’t go plain sailing at the North West Stages. Due to unforeseen circumstances and various incidents on the early stages, the morning loop of 5 stages had to be shortened and notional times have been given. Before this, Ingram did set the pace on the first 5 stages before this issue happened.
The next BRC event will take place at Wales, the Rallynuts Severn Valley Stages which marks the first of two gravel trips to the country on April 13th.
