Defending champion Francesco Bagnaia took the lead in the title race by winning the German MotoGP at the Sachsenring.
Spain’s Martin, riding Ducati’s satellite Pramac bike, broke the lap record to claim pole before winning Saturday’s sprint race to open up a 15-point lead in the standings.
The Marquez brothers became the first in 27 years to finish on the podium together as Marc came second and Alex third on Sunday.
The Italian, riding for Ducati Lenovo, moves ahead of Jorge Martin, who crashed with two laps remaining while leading the race.
After the race, Jorge Martin said he had no explanation for his exit from the MotoGP German Grand Prix, after crashing out from a front-running position for a third time in the 2024 season.
But Bagnaia’s fourth consecutive grand prix victory on Sunday gave him a 10-point advantage. The championship resumes with the British GP at Silverstone on 4 August.
