Home » Ingram Shines At Nick Grist Stages, Payne Wins BTRDA Class

A star studded entry, made up of competitors from six major UK championships and several of the top Probite British Rally Championship however it was current BRC driver Chris Ingram came out on top in Wales’s Nicky Grist Stages Event.

Debuting in his new Toyota GR Yaris, he and co-driver Alex Kihurani romped home 12 seconds clear over nearest challengers Keith Cronin and Shane Buckley in their Fiesta Rally 2. Ingram’s teammate Meirion Evans and Jonathan Jackson claimed the final podium position, finishing nearly a minute behind the winners.

For many of these drivers this was a good practise event as the British Rally Championship soon returns after the summer break, the start of August sees the return of another Scottish favourite, the Voyonic Grampian Forest Rally.

Hailed as some of the most exciting forest stages in the country, the Grampian is based just outside of Aberdeen and will shift to a longer, two-day format.

It was in impressive debut for the Toyota as Ingram managed to win 6 out of the 8 stages to claim the win while Cronin took the other 2 stages.

Elsewhere in the BTRDA series, Elliot Payne tightened his grip winning the class and most importantly increase his championship lead as current championship contender and defending Welsh Rally Championship protagonist Matthew Hirst had to retire on Stage 2.

Payne finished 5th overall after winning the event last year. Vivian Hamill finished second with Ross Thompson taking third.
