Two-time world champion Kalle Rovanperä will drive a Toyota Starlet at next month’s Killarney Historic Rally.
The Finn’s first competitive rally outing in Ireland will come at the wheel of Jason Black’s sensational 2.5-liter Starlet – and just one week on from the conclusion of this year’s World Rally Championship in Japan.
Rovanpera will be competing alongside his World Rally Championship co-driver Jonne Halttunen. Rovanperä does have experience of Irish motorsport, having tackled the 2022 Driftmaster event at Mondello Park.
FIA sporting delegate and Killarney man Paul Nagle knows what Rovanperä’s entry means to a rally his father Maurice used to organize.
Ireland’s premier historic and modified rally event features eight stages, including a return to six classic Killarney roads, and one stage run both in daylight and under the cover of darkness.
The Killarney Historic Rally takes place on Saturday 30 November, marking the start of the 2025 Historic Irish Tarmac Rally Championship.
Approximately 150 cars are expected to compete, with the entry limited to historic and modified machinery.
Past winners of the Killarney Historic Rally include rallying legends like Jimmy McRae, the late Craig Breen, and Jonny Greer.
