Callum Devine and Noel O’Sullivan had to come from behind to clinch an historic fourth Rally of the Lakes crown in the two day event.

Going into Sundays stages, Devine was 3rd overall, 5.3 seconds off 1st which was held by Meirion Evans and Ger Conway.
Having struggled most of the morning to get optimal speed with the car on Saturday, Devine and O’Sulivan got the setup sweetly on the opening stage on Molls Gap winning it and stage 11 respectively.
The pair who seem to have the magic charm at the wild Irish Kerry district increased there lead as the day progress. Another stage win at Ballaghbeama 2 cemented that top spot by over twenty seconds on Evans and Conway with one stage to go.
A stage win For Evans wasn’t enough for the Welshman in his Toyota Yaris at Shanara 2 as Devine did enough to take the win by 14 seconds and make more history at the Rally of the Lakes.
After rooten luck in the first two rounds of the season, Matt Edwards would take third in the Hyundai alongside David Moynihan.

Eddie Doherty and Declan Boyle would complete the top five finishers. Elsewhere championship contender Keith Cronin would retire on stage 4 on Saturday.
Robert Duggan and John McCarthy would take the modified class win in his MK2 Escort while Alan Ring took his BMW M3 to victory in the Historic class.
