Despite a massive crash in last weekend’s Cavan Rally, Garry Jennings has committed himself to make a competitive return to rallying in the near future.

In an interview with the Irish News, Jennings stated it won’t put him off from getting back behind the next wheel at the next opportunity.

“It’s one of them things, you live by the sword and die by the sword,” he says.

“Not in 25 years have I had an accident like this. I’ve never had an accident really, never mind ending up in hospital. I’ve only ever visited people in hospital.

“I’ve been on the phone this morning asking about the car and when it can get back on the road. “I’ll be straight back in the car when I can. It’s like a jockey falling off a horse, the only thing you can do is get back on again.”

Garry remains in hospital and expects to be there for some time, and thanked nearby drivers for saving his life following the dramatic crash. He suffered a broken shoulder and a broken leg during the crash.

Garry’s co-pilot Brian also suffered significant injuries, including a broken leg, broken arm and chest injuries, with Garry wishing him well in his recovery.
