Home » Meeke Strengthens Championship Lead At Madeira

The stunning island of Madeira was the stage for another display of competitiveness from the Toyota GR Yaris Rally2, with Kris Meeke and Stuart Loudon securing a crucial victory in the Portuguese Rally Championship.

The Toyota Gazoo Racing Caetano Portugal duo returned to winning ways, strengthening their lead in the national championship.

This is the duo’s fourth victory of the season, solidifying the team’s position at the top of the CPR. The GR Yaris Rally2 has established itself as an undisputed leader in the field, demonstrating its strength in the challenging Madeiran stages.

After a strong and competitive start, the British duo were surprised by a puncture on the second run through Palheiro Ferreiro, the longest and most demanding section of the race. The incident relegated them from the podium fight to sixth place.

However, Meeke and Loudon quickly refocused, prioritizing victory among the CPR competitors. This strategic shift proved effective, allowing them to maintain the consistency and speed necessary to secure maximum points in the national championship, in a season in which they only failed to finish in the Rally of Portugal and finished second in Castelo Branco.
