A dedicated Colin McRae Museum is to be built at his former rally headquarters building in Scotland.
The announcement was made on Instagram by Colin’s daughter Hollie which confirmed that this project was started a couple of years ago which along with her Mum and Colin’s wife Alison.
The museum will show Colin’s major rally trophies from his humble beginnings at Scotland to competing in the WRC with M-Sport, Subaru etc.
In at statement online Hollie said “I’m taking on the challenge of creating a museum space to commemorate the incredible motorsport moments and achievements of my Dad, Colin McRae!”
“Not only that, I’ve decided to document the process to share it with you all… now we just need a name 🤔 If you have any ideas of what we can call this wee documentary vlog series, let me know in the comments!”
Hollie thought very much of her late Dad. In an interview with Dirtfish, “If I’m being completely honest, up until my dad’s death, I didn’t know that he did rally driving as a job. I thought it was just another one of his insane hobbies. And I certainly didn’t know what an impact he had on people and their lives.”
No official date has been confirmed as to when the museum will be opened to the general but there hoping that it will be sometime next year.
