In a day of pure drama, William Creighton claimed the win in the second Rali Ceredigion event after Championship Contenders Chris Ingram and Keith Cronin suffered DNF’s in Wales.
Intentionally, Jon Armstrong crossed the finish line in first place however, Armstrong and Treacy checked in late into the podium control meaning they dropped to second in the BRC and not dent their ERC finish.
This provisionally promotes stablemates William Creighton and Liam Regan to the BRC Round 6 win, their first outright BRC win and more importantly giving them a stronger position in the points standings.
The action started on stage 11 where Ingram slid off the road, crashing hard and was forced to retire. Keith Cronin then stopped on the same stage on which we would see both BRC contenders out of the event and scoring no points from it.
Armstrong took the lead of the short, sharp round six. Gambling on a hard compound tyre, the Irishman took a storming time through SS12 to lead M-Sport teammate and title hopeful William Creighton to an Irish 1-2 finish.
Elsewhere, McHugh and Kierans won the Juniors, while Black and Morton claimed the open series.
Overall Hayden Paddon took his first European Rally Championship victory since becoming champion, winning Rali Ceredigion by over a minute in his Hyundai i20 N Rally2.
All the hard work was done on the first full day, with seven out of eight stage wins earning Paddon a huge advantage as he proved to be in a class of his own.
Mabellini finished second with Franceschi rounding off the podium places. Callum Devine finished a respectable 6th place overall.
