The Portuguese Rally Championship season comes to a close at Rally Vidreiro Centro de Portugal, with Team Hyundai Portugal driver Kris Meeke holding the points’ lead.
After winning five of the seven rounds of his first full season in the country, the Ulsterman brings an 18-point lead into the finale.
Promisingly, at no point this season has Meeke been outscored by more than this margin. If he wins the title he will follow in the footsteps of his Hyundai Portugal supported team-mate Ricardo Teodósio.
He and co-driver José Teixeira sit third in the standings, out of title contention after a frustrating campaign that has included two podiums, including second at the previous round when they completed a 1-2 finish for the team.
A matching result this weekend would end Teodósio and Teixeira’s 2024 on a high and – of course – secure the title for Meeke.
