Home » Double Delight For Hirst At Cambrian Rally

Matthew Hirst and Declan Dear capped off another superb weekend as he not only they dominated the Welsh Rally Championship class but also edged out Elliot Payne and Patrick Walsh in the BTRDA National Class Finale.

The pair capped off a dominant display at Wales for the penultimate round of the Welsh Rally Championship winning the opening stage and not looking back in the process. Russ Thompson/Stephen Link finished third in the BTRDA Class and second in the Welsh category.

For Hirst the main competition would be in the BTRDA category and he really showed his experience in the Welsh stages.

He recorded quickest time on stage 2 opening up a 35 second gap on Payne to which by then he controlled the rally.

In the end Hirst won by over a minute clear of Payne which would be a consolation for Hirst as Payne clinched the championship series already at Rally Yorkshire last month.
