The Killarney Historic Rally is recognised Internationally as Irelands premier Historic Rally. It attracts a huge amount of quality competitors every year and is Ireland’s only event to cater solely for historic rally cars.
It is included as counting rounds of the Irish Tarmac Rally Championship, The Kingdom of Kerry Rally Championship, The British HRCR Rally Championship and The Plasticbags Southern 4 Rally Championship.
The Event is expected to attract over 150 crews from all over Ireland, the UK and indeed Europe, takes place on Saturday 30th November, 2024.
Clerk of the Course, Anthony O’Connor, said year’s event promises to be even bigger and better than ever before, with a fantastic route that includes classic stages, including Moll’s Gap, Ballaghbeama, and Carragh Lake.
Historic ITRC’s most recent championship-winning crews – Duncan Williams and Guy Weaver plus Neil Williams and Anthony O’Sullivan – have both entered November’s curtain raiser. Several other potential title contenders are heading to Killarney including Michael McDaid, Ray Breen, and Trevor Wilson.
Regular ITRC frontrunner, Jonathan Greer, tops the Killarney Historic Rally entry hoping to defend his victory from 12 months ago aboard his four-wheel-drive Ford Sierra.
Local hero Alan Ring is seeded second in another four-wheel-drive car – his sweet-sounding Subaru Legacy. Eamonn and Donagh Kelly complete a magnificent top five in a Ford Escort RS1800 and BMW M3 respectively.
Mark Falvey, Denis Moynihan, and Tomas Davies add further interest inside Killarney’s top ten starters.
No doubt the star of the event is two time WRC Champion Kalle Rovanpera. The Finnish ace will be trading in his usual Toyota GR Yaris Rally1 for a rear-wheel-drive Toyota Starlet, making his debut on Ireland’s iconic asphalt stages. Rovanpera will be competing alongside his World Rally Championship co-driver Jonne Halttunen.
