Max Verstappen scores back to back grand prix wins after providing a masterclass drive in mixed conditions at Monaco Grand Prix.

Verstappen lead off the line and into Turn 1 with Alonso tucked in behind in 2nd. Verstappen and Alonso pulled a gap to Ocon on the opening laps and would proved to be a two horse race between the pair.

At the back, Perez (who started P20) has pitted and will try to run to the end of the race in what would prove to be a difficult race for the Mexican.

On Lap 11 Front wing damage for Sainz after he tried a move on Ocon heading into the Nouvelle Chicane. Luckily he didn’t need to make a pitstop.

Halfway through the race, radio conversations are increasingly turning to the weather – rain could (could!) be on the way.

And sure enough in the final third of the race the rain came. This provided chaos as the drivers came in to make to vital wet weather pitstops.

Alonso took the game by switching to dry’s as he believed that the shower would pass over. That would be the case and needed to make another stop to switch to the intermediates.

Thankfully for him he retained his 2nd place. Everybody was struggling to stay on the track. Russell became a copper after going off at the runway at turn 4 colliding with a lapped Perez and getting himself a 5 second timed penalty in the process.

As the rain eased off normal service was resumed for the leader Max Verstappen who maintained his gap over Alonso to the end of the finish line to extend his championship gap over Perez and Alonso.

Ocon came home with a well deserved third, Hamilton and Russell who both jumped the Ferraris during the wet weather pit stop phase finished forth & fifth.

Leclerc, Gasly, Sainz, Norris & Piastri rounded off the top 10. Perez finished 17th, two laps down from Verstappen.
