Competitor Killed At Clare Stages Rally

A competitor has died following a collision at the Clare Stages Rally, Motorsport Ireland has said.

In a statement this afternoon, the group said that the driver was involved in a two-vehicle collision in the Carron area at around 1.30pm, during the rally’s fourth stage.

The driver of the second car has been transferred to University Hospital Limerick to be treated.

Emergency services are at the scene and the road has been closed off. A garda spokesperson said that local diversions have been put in place.

The spokesperson for Motorsport Ireland extended their sympathies to the family of the deceased, as well as members of Clare Motor Club who had organised the event.
