WRC To Scrap 2025 Regulations?

Toyota, Hyundai and M-Sport Ford have united to the FIA requesting current Rally1 regulations remain in place until the end of the 2026 World Rally Championship season.

According to DirtFish, the teams placed a letter to the head of the motorsport govern body stating that the current homologation cycle. Hybrid supplier Compact Dynamics already has an agreement in place to supply the WRC teams through the end of 2026.

The FIA’s WRC Working Group has recommended significant regulatory change for next season, with Rally1 cars running without hybrid, less aero and less power while Rally2 cars get more power and more aero.

Basically a reboot to the current Rally2 format but a bit more freeway to the manufactures.

Its been a week of mixed messages from the teams as Cyril Abiteboul says it won’t be possible for Hyundai to do a “good job” next year under the FIA’s plan to ratify 2025 World Rally Championship regulations in June.

While Toyota have been practising in Croatia with a prototype 2025 car with Elfyn Evans behind the wheel.
