Defending Welsh Rally Champion Matthew Hirst claimed the opening round of the BTRDA series at the Malcolm Wilson Rally.
Partnered with co-driver Declan Dear, the pair claimed the win by over 13 seconds from second place challengers and reigning champions Elliot Payne and Patrick Walsh.
Hirst and Dear won four of the eight categorized stages who is also competing in the BRC got his BTRDA title bid of to a flying start.
Coming in third was Iceland star Daníel Sigurðarson in the Skoda Fabia. They finished nearly a minute behind winners seconds behind Hirst and Dear respectively.
Overall rally winners where Garry Pearson and co-driver Hannah McKillop in the Fiesta R5 rally spec car edging Merion Evans by just one second in the Toyota Yaris.
Elsewhere David Henderson claimed top honours in the silver star class in his MK2 Escort. Next up in the BTRDA Rally calendar is the Border Counties Rally on May 10th.
