Callum Devine and Noel O’Sullivan had a commanding lead in the Galway International Rally after a dominant opening day, setting the pace in their Skoda Fabia RS Rally2. The reigning Irish champions were in fine form across Saturday’s stages, building a substantial 42.3-second advantage over their nearest rivals by the end of Day 1.

Eddie Doherty and Tom Murphy currently occupy second place, keeping Devine honest but unable to match the leader’s outright pace as the stages progressed. Despite a solid and consistent run, they head into the final day knowing they have ground to make up if they are to challenge for the top spot.

Donegal’s Michael Boyle sits third overall, 1 minute 11.6 seconds behind Devine. Boyle delivered a measured drive to stay in touch with the front runners and will be aiming to capitalise on any mistakes ahead of him as the rally resumed on Sunday.

One of the big casualties was Eamonn Kelly and Conor Mahon who hit a wall on Saturday morning which as a result had to retire the car.

In the second day S12 was red flagged with Boyle setting the fastest time to close the gap on second overall, Just 0.2s between Boyle and Doherty.

However Doherty takes nearly 13s out of Devine’s lead with the fastest time on the penultimate stage and a error from Boyle brough Jos Moffett into play for a podium position.

In the end Devine did enough to take the win by over Eddie Doherty with Josh Moffett and Andy Hayes in the new Toyota Yaris overhauling Declan Boyle and David Kelly to bring home a fine third thanks to a stage win in the process.

It marked an impressive start for Devine & O’Sullivan to their 2026 Irish Tarmac Rally Championship campaign as well as securing that long awaited victory on Galway’s roads.
