Home » Rea Concludes Intense Weekend At Assen

Jonathan Rea completed his second race weekend aboard the CBR1000RR-R, fully focused on gathering valuable information for the technicians. Somkiat Chantra, confined to the garage following Saturday’s FP3 crash, now targets a return at the next round in Hungary.

The Honda HRC rider finished 19th as Nicolo Bulega completed his third consecutive treble in 2026 on the Aruba.it Ducati to extend his championship advantage.

Rea was 17th in the opening race on Saturday and took the same result in the shorter Superpole race on Sunday.

Rea was Honda’s only rider at Assen after team-mate Somkiat Chantra was deemed unfit to race following a spill in FP3 on Saturday, which left him with ‘contusions and a hematoma on his lower back and thigh’.

Honda test rider Rea said he enjoyed the first part of Race 2 on Sunday and had made progress, even though “the result doesn’t really reflect it”.
