Dean Harrison delivered a commanding performance to claim victory in the RST Superbike race and secure the sixth Isle of Man TT win of his career on Sunday.
The Honda Racing rider, who set the pace throughout qualifying week, lead from start to finish in the six-lap feature race recording the fastest-ever opening lap of 134.893mph.
The Yorkshireman quickly built a lead, with an advantage of 4.8s by Glen Helen on the first lap, and continued to built that gap throughout. At one point, he was 33s clear of his closest contender.
Harrison maintained his advantage to take victory ahead of Peter Hickman on the 8TEN Racing BMW.
Hickman edged out Michael Dunlop in a closely-fought battle for second place, with the MD/Hawk Racing Honda rider completing the podium.
Australian Josh Brookes brought his DAO Racing Honda home in fourth, while TT veteran John McGuinness produced another impressive ride to finish fifth for Honda Racing.
He has now taken victory in each of the four solo classes, and today’s win marked his 36th podium to which he’ll be looking for more success in the second superbike race and the two superstocks class events which once again he’ll be the favourite to take the win later in the week.
