The Ballylickey ace will campaign a Ford Fiesta Rally2 in next month’s Corrib Oil Galway International Rally, the opening round of the series that concludes with the Cork ‘20’ International Rally next September.

A four-time British Rally champion, Cronin has yet to decide if he is to make another attempt to equal Jimmy McRae’s five BRC victories.

Cronin, who was the first driver to pilot an R5 car to win the Irish Tarmac Rally Championship (2016) is the second seasoned BRC driver to announce that he will compete in this years championship.

At the launch of the rally in Galway over the weekend, it was announced that one of his great rivals Welsh ace Matt Edwards will also contest the two-day event on February 3rd/4th next.

Edwards has won three British titles and this will be his first full assault on the Irish series. Both Cronin and Edwards will campaign Ford Fiesta Rally2 cars.
