Taking their second win of the season and taking the first British Rally Championship round win for the Toyota Yaris Rally2, Chris Ingram got the better on Osian Pryce to claim vital championship points in the Grampian Forest Rally.
They finished the event with a margin of 9 seconds over Pryce and Evans in the Ford Fiesta Rally 2. Keith Cronin and Mikie Galvin rounded out the top three in their Ford Fiesta Rally 2 in what is going to prove to be a busy schedule for the pair as they’ll be competing in next Saturday’s Ulster Rally.
Robert Proudlock sealed the Junior BRC class on the Scottish roads in the Peugeot 208 as Ryan MacHugh and Kyle McBride retired while Jimmy McRae took a respectable 42nd place in the MK1 Escort.
It proved to be hard hard for Ingram as William Creighton claimed the opening stage win. This was followed with Pryce taking stage 2.
By this stage Ingram was 4 seconds behind Pryce. By the halfway point Ingram made his move. Winning on stage 5 which was then further increased by nearly 30 seconds after Pryce made a mistake which proved to be the deciding factor of the rally.
Stage wins in 8 & 9 weren’t enough for Pryce as Ingram kept his cool to take the win. Creighton could match the pace of the top 3 to finish 4th by reigning NI Rally champion Jonny Greer took a decent fifth to complete the top 5 positions.
The next BRC event will be at arguably the flagship event in the UK, Rali Ceredigion at the end of this month.
