Accompanied by Tom Murphy, Eddie Doherty took a well deserved win at the Circuit of Kerry, the second round of the National Rally Championship.

In a Skoda Fabia R5 despite their previous Kerry Winter Rally experience, have never contested a Circuit of Kerry before but that didn’t put them off in getting to grips on Sunday morning.

Doherty set the pace in the opening stage in tricky and greasy conditions in the Kerry mountains and never looked back afterwards.

Claiming stage wins in 2, 4 and 5 by the halfway mark they held a 15 second lead over Josh Moffett and Keith Moriarty in the Citroen C3 with Robert Barrable and Gordon Noble in another Skoda in third place.

As the stages progressed throughout the day, the split times started to get tighter. However that didn’t stop Doherty taking another stage win in 6.

In the end he claimed the win by over 27 seconds over Barrable and Noble who leapfrogged Moffet and Moriarty on stage 7 after the regening national champions had to retire the car.

This would elevate Josh’s brother Sam in his Hyundai i30 to third. 10 seconds would split the pair to round off the podium places.

In the modified class Kevin Gallagher would take a command win in his Darrian along with his co-driver Ryan Moore. The pair would finished 8th overall in the event. Jack Harris took the FWD win in his Fiesta Rally4.
